Multi-sensory
refers to experiences that involve multiple senses at once.
A multisensory painting is a work of art that engages more than one sense of the viewer. Unlike traditional painting, which focuses primarily on the visual aspect, multisensory paintings use various stimuli to deepen the artistic experience.
Senses involved:
Sight – colours, composition, play of light and shadow.
Touch – varied textures, convexities, paint structure, additionally temperature differences in different areas of the image.
Hearing – sound recordings or interactive elements that enrich visual perception.
Olfaction – the use of fragrances that stimulate the sense of smell.
By integrating different stimuli, multisensory images allow the viewer not only to see them, but also to feel and experience them on a deeper level. This approach makes art more accessible, especially for people with visual limitations, and intensifies the emotional reception of the work.
The Prototype tab contains a full description of the work, which is a prototype of the world's first multisensory image.
